Eat grass
Imagine a table of 10 guests at a wedding banquet tucking into a tableful of dishes.
The 10 guests are divided up into 2 groups. One group of four is entitled to the sharks fins, the seafood and other expensive food. The other group of six is only entitled to the "cheapo" food - the chicken, vegetables, tofu etc.
Now consider this situation. Two more people join this already crowded table and together, they are entitled to the chicken that originally belonged to the group of six. What is the group of six left with? Only tofu and vegetables.
New (and drastic) measures are possibly going to be in place at work wef Monday. And the above analogy, albeit very silly, describes this situation perfectly. I think I am going to "jia4 cao4" (literally means "eat grass" in Hokkien, meaning to be left with only the scraps) very soon.
How can I ever survive?
