Steamboat

Met up with my fellow LCK Securities "colleagues" for dinner on Friday and it was super fun!

Haven't seen them for such a long time and all thanks to Siew Hup for organizing everything. I miss all of them!

We went to Tian Tian Huo Guo near Bugis -- the one that is always advertising on TV. Smart alec Eugene and Darrell had to choose the ma la soup oil base.

The calm before the storm...

Before the feast

And the aftermath..

The aftermath

Notice the empty jug. Make that two empty jugs of iced Chinese tea and chrysanthemum tea plus lots of sniffing of noses and coughing due to the extremely hot ma la soup! And we learnt of an interesting fact from the boss as well. Ma la plus iced water is a lethal combination for inducing diarhoea. Er.. Thanks for the handy tip provided during dinner.

One for the memories

The grossly dark red colour is the ma la soup base. There were chopped chilli and dried chilli padi floating around in the soup! I probably won't touch steamboat or at least ma la steamboat for at least the next few months, but I definitely enjoyed everyone's company!

Till we meet again!

Corporate Reshuffling

The same pie is now cut into more slices; the table is getting more crowded now with everyone sharing the same quantity of food.

Great. And I thought I had already experienced the worst case scenario. The situation now must surely be the worst. It can't better not get any worse.

All my past few entries are all about work work work, but I can't help it! It is becoming such a big part of my life, unfortunately. I want to blog about my latest facial appointment, my shopping exploits, a very good, I-wish-it-would-come-true dream I had two days ago, even about the cute guy I talked to during the roadshow on Sunday. But I won't. I think I have lost my sense of humour (if I ever had it in the first place).

Damn tired.

My horoscope for today:

Confusing financial issues could come along during the workday, but there's no cause for alarm. You have friends in high places, and if you ask, they'll be only too happy to help.

In any case, the issues are not exactly confusing in the first place. But anyway, make this prediction a daily occurence. So much so that it is driving me nuts!

You all problematic people out there, you think bankers are all very eng ah? Dunno how to use Internet Banking/Forgot PIN/Why there is a $5 charge for counter withdrawals etc... no need to come down to branch one.. Just call the hotline!

Arghh!!

To all customers out there, our bank believes in the "The customer is always right" mantra. But before you waste your own precious time (and ours too) by coming down to the branches for all sorts of enquiries, maybe it might do yourself good to navigate our website for added convenience. It is very very user friendly. If you still have enquiries, you can call our toll-free hotline too.

Thank you very much.

Pui!

What a whole load of crap

I love my holidays!

Resolved the day before that I would make full use of the Deepavali holiday today by sleeping real late the night before and waking up bright and early this morning.

Of course this is a tough compromise to make and I ended up waking up after much of the morning had passed. So much for making use of the holiday...

Need to draft another appeal letter for my Dad's summons again. He got a summons for parking against the double yellow line. Time of the summons: 3.52 am. He had come home around 1 am and there were no empty lots then. Did the authorities expect him to stay awake until 3 am and park the next available lot? And so I shot an email to HDB to appeal for a waiver of the summons. It got rejected.

Reason? HDB had waived off the fine on previous similar occasions for him then. Their solution for him was that "If (he is) unable to locate vacant parking lots in car park no. [ insert carkpark no], (he is) required to park (his) vehicle in the nearby carparks ... and display the relevant parking coupons."

Then what is the use of my Dad paying the $65/month season parking ticket if there are insufficient lots for ticket holders like him and he needs to resort to parking at other places?

So does it mean that we need to come home by 7 pm every night because we get penalized for returning late?

Better get down to writing my 2nd appeal letter. Something that is a "piece of cake" for me. hahaha
